Fall has arrived to the Dallas Fort-Worth area which means that soon people will be lighting up their fireplaces to try and keep warm when the nights get cool. Fireplaces add warmth and ambiance to a home, but if youclock and calendar haven’t made time to get your fireplace inspected or swept within the last year, you might be putting your home at risk. At Hale’s Chimney and Fireplace Solutions, we can’t stress enough the importance of getting your chimney inspected and cleaned before heavy usage in the colder fall and winter months and we want you to know that you still have time to schedule an appointment with us.

Do I need an appointment?

If you’ve had a chimney inspection and/or cleaning within the last year and you currently aren’t having any issues with your chimney or fireplace, you do not not need to schedule an inspection. The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) and National Fire Prevention Agency (NFPA) both recommend having your chimney inspected and swept by a CSIA certified chimney technician at least annually. Sweeping your chimney annually will prevent the build up of creosote inside your chimney. This is important because if creosote builds up enough, it will become combustible, which can be incredibly hazardous. Visual chimney inspections, called level one chimney inspections, are conducted to make sure that creosote buildup isn’t getting out of hand, and that everything else in your chimney is looking okay. Once a chimney technician has cleaned and inspect your chimney, you will be able to operate your fireplace all winter long without much worry.

Now is still a good time to call

Now that colder weather is becoming more frequent, people naturally start using their fireplaces more. With this uptick in fireplace usage comes a rush of chimney inspection and maintenance calls. During this time, we here at Hale’s Chimney and Fireplace Solutions become very busy with service calls and inspections. Although we usually can still squeeze new appointments into our schedule, it may be more difficult to schedule during a time that is most convenient for you. Right now, we are just starting to get busy. However, if you schedule your annual inspection soon, you we should still be able to work with your schedule better then when it gets colder out.

Annual chimney inspections are the best way to keep your chimney and fireplace operating safely and efficiently each winter. Even if you’ve already started using your fireplace this fall, you still can have it inspected, we just ask that you don’t burn anything in it a couple days before we arrive. Fall is a busy time of year for us, but we can still fit you into our schedule if you call Hale’s Chimney and Fireplace Solutions at to set up an inspection time. You can also schedule an appointment with one of our chimney professionals online today. Let Hale’s Chimney and Fireplace Solutions keep you and your family safe and warm this winter!
