Is It Time To Have Your Dallas Chimney Cleaned?
Do you enjoy fires in you chimney several nights a week during the cooler months? Have you noticed any odors coming from your chimney or any smoke backing up into your home when the fireplace is in use? Have you heard scratches and chirps from inside your chimney? Has it been over a year since you last had your chimney looked at by a professional? Did you just move into a new home? If you answered YES to any of these questions, it may be time for a good chimney cleaning! The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) urges homeowners to have chimneys professionally inspected at least once a year and cleaned as needed (usually every 1-3 years, depending on use).
What Does A Chimney Cleaning Really Do & Why Does It Matter?
Every time you spark up that fire and relax in front of its dancing flames, a number of substances are produced, including smoke, soot, vapor, and creosote. Many of these, including vapor, creosote, and soot can settle on the flue walls as the chimney cools, leaving a buildup that’s not only dirty, but harmful. You see, corrosive buildup can eat at the flue walls and lead to holes and cracks that are costly to repair. And, buildup like creosote can restrict air flow, making your entire chimney and attached appliance less efficient, forcing smoke back into your home, and even threatening to ignite and spark a house fire. A chimney cleaning works to remove these deposits and eradicate these potential problems.
We Can Get Those Flue Walls Clean, Fast & Without A Mess
Here at Hale’s Chimney, we perform thorough chimney sweepings and cleanings for our neighbors throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area. For the last 20+ years, we’ve delivered exceptional service on each and every job and worked hard to keep the chimney systems of the greater Dallas area safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable.
Our CSIA-certified techs start by laying down tarps to protect your property from any loosened debris. Once our powerful vacuums are in place, we use brushes attached to poles to loosen soot and creosote deposits and clean the flue walls, smoke chamber, damper, smoke shelf, and hearth, sucking up all debris with our vacuums. In all, our cleanings take up to an hour to complete, but we guarantee no mess in your home!
With each of our chimney cleanings, we also visually inspect the chimney and check the crown, flashing, and accessible interior and exterior of the system for any damage. If you’d like, we can even provide you with a written evaluation of your chimney system at the end of service – just ask!
What Do You Need To Do To Prepare For Your Chimney Cleaning?
There are a couple of things you can do to prepare for your chimney cleaning appointment:
- Temporarily remove any furniture or valuables within 5 feet of the fireplace or stove.
- Stop using your fireplace or stove at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment so it has plenty of time to cool.
That’s it – we’ll take care of the rest!
